Lauren & Colin | Real Weddings at Bachilton Barn
How did you two meet?
We met on Twitter (X) chatting about Still Game and football
What was it that made you choose Bachilton Barn?
As soon as we arrived and seen how beautiful Bachilton Barn was, we just knew it was for us. We both got a buzz about the venue, we were excited and that’s when we both knew this was it!
What was important to you when planning your wedding?
It was important to us that the venue was naturally beautiful, peaceful and also had stunning views. All of which Bachilton Barn has! The whole venue just flows which helped us, as we found other venues we had looked at to be a bit too disjointed.
Tell us about your big day! What was your favourite part?
We were very lucky with the Scottish summer! The ceremony was kicked off by our flower men strutting down the aisle to Shania Twains “Man I feel like a woman” followed by my flower girl and Paige boy and bridesmaids. Our ceremony was full of laughter before we headed back up the aisle as husband and wife to socialise outside with our guests. Outside we got our photos with our family and friends and had some games outside which was a great addition.
The theme of our wedding was Scotland as that was the one thing we do together. Travelling the world following Scotland football team. Within our decor we had floral arrangements with tartan flowing down the barrels and wooden arch, as well as we had our amazing piper Dean Saunders and tables names after Scotland players. Amanda and BeBe from Inspired Weddings done an incredible job decorating the venue. Once all our speeches and meal was done - it was party time! We were so lucky with the weather and managed to get beautiful sunset photo and video shots. Outwith our band filling the dancefloor, we had an audio guestbook and photobooth as entertainment for the guests which was a great hit!
Our day was incredible and it wouldn’t have been without the help of Kayleigh and her team, our amazing suppliers and of course our wedding guests and party!
What tips and tricks would you give to other couples planning their wedding?
Don’t sweat about the small stuff. It’s your day nobody else’s - so don’t listen to everyone’s opinions or demands.
How are you enjoying married life?
I don’t recommend having a baby, getting married and then moving house straight after as that can be a little stressful!! but we’re looking forward to creating new memories as a family and a married couple. We can’t wait to get all our wedding photos and videos back as well as going off on our honeymoon.
And finally… Shout out your fabulous suppliers:
Bachilton Barn- Kayleigh & her team are just superb and always there for you when you need them. Kayleigh just put all my nerves to rest and one of the team was always on hand to help with my dress, our flowers and anything our guests needed. A massive thank you!!
Francis J Smith Photography- JUST INCREDIBLE!! Francis is so relaxing and fun at the same time. Our preview photos we got back are just stunning. I couldn’t recommend Francis enough.
R M H Productions- Ross is amazing, so fun, a good laugh and down to earth. We cannot wait to see what magic Ross has got from our wedding.
Inspired Weddings- I didn’t think Bachilton Barn could be anymore stunning however Amanda and Bebe are just magicians.
Regis Banquet- We had a great experience with Regis banquet from the initial contact to our wedding day, nothing was too big or small. Everyone loved their meals, healthy portions and the staff are so friendly.
Mobile measures- Great bar and great selection of drinks!! Staff so friendly and prices weren’t extortionate either, and helped us with table drinks packages.
Bonnie Bakes by Karen- We had a two tier wedding cake with the flavours of Red Velvet and Salted caramel. Beautifully decorated and was delicious!
Victoria Bloom Florist- Victoria’s floral arrangements were just stunning, local and was so helpful when choosing my flowers.
Strathearn Kilt Hire- Brilliant local family run business. Great selection of tartans, staff are so accommodating and helpful with many years of experience.
Sophia Grace Couture- I loved my wedding dress, the shop was just beautiful, as well as the girls who work there.
Aimee Marie Make up- I’ve had Aimee doing my make up for years now from my graduation, baby shower and now my wedding. She made me feel like a million dollars. If you want someone so friendly, natural and a great person I highly recommend!!
Chantelle’s Creative Curls- Again I’ve had Chantelle doing my hair for years now and I wouldn’t go to anyone else. Every time my hair lasts so well and is so patient as I can be a little fussy with my hair at times. On the day, while me and the girls were busy running about getting changed Chantelle watched my little girl for me. Not only a great hairdresser but a great babysitter and a lovely individual.
Dean Saunders Piper- If you need a piper, Dean is your man! So down to earth, nothing is too much of a task for him, gave helpful advice, so friendly and accommodating. Would use Dean again in a heartbeat.
Aurora wedding band; A great band and filled the dance floor was some classics.
Oakbooth Photobooth; A great addition to our wedding, everyone had so much fun at it- especially my wee granny! Lots of props and unlimited copies.
Express YourSelfie; Again another great addition to our wedding and something different. We’ve recently got our messages back and I can safely say it was one of our fave purchases for the wedding.
