Chloe & Josh | Real Weddings at Bachilton Barn
How did you two meet?
We met on a night out during our University days
What was it that made you choose Bachilton Barn?
We loved that the venue was ours for the weekend and that all our close friends and family could stay on site in the amazing accommodation. After seeing the venue in person and seeing the beautiful surroundings, as well as meeting Kayleigh who answered all of our many questions, we knew Bachilton Barn would be perfect for our big day!
What was important to you when planning your wedding?
We wanted a blank but beautiful space where we could host a really personal wedding day with our own special touches. We also really relied on recommended supplier lists which Bachilton Barn and our other suppliers helpfully provided. It was important to us that our day felt really personal to us and that, once all the planning was done, we could relax and trust our amazing suppliers to make sure everything ran smoothly (which it did!)..
Tell us about your big day! What was your favourite part?
Our whole weekend was amazing from the barbecue with friends the night before right up until the last song on the dance floor. We had an emotional humanist ceremony followed by an outdoor drinks reception with lots of lawn games. We then had an amazing all-vegan meal and went outdoors afterwards to enjoy the venue’s fire pit and toasted some marshmallows. Our band then got the party started and kept the dance floor busy all night.
It’s hard to choose a favourite part but we think it was probably the ceilidh set at the start of the evening reception where, although only about 50% of guests were Scottish, everyone gave it a good go!
What tips and tricks would you give to other couples planning their wedding?
Start planning early and break it down into little tasks whenever you have time to keep things fun and stress-free. Make sure you focus on what is important to you and incorporate traditions that you like- and feel free to mix them up a bit or leave out what doesn’t fit with what matters to you.
Make use of Bachilton Barn’s outdoor space and go to some of the open days to have a wander and get ideas for photo spots. We’d also recommend making a wedding website with lots of information so guests with lots of questions can check there first before asking you.
How are you enjoying married life?
We’re loving married life! We’ve loved looking back at photos from our wedding and catching up with family and friends. We have also enjoyed having our weekends back after wedding planning!
