Kayleigh & Callum | Real Weddings at Bachilton Barn
How did you two meet?We knew each other through friends but met properly at a house party during the school holidays one summer.
What was it that made you choose Bachilton Barn?
We had heard good things about Bachilton Barn through people who had been at weddings there previously. So we always knew we would want to view it. It just happened that it was the first venue we booked in to see. It was love at first sight and we booked it on that day. We were really looking for a DIY venue that would let us make the day exactly as we wanted it. The addition of the accommodation was a bonus too. We went to view it during an open day so it was nice to see all of the suppliers there.
What was important to you when planning your wedding?
Kayleigh started working for Bachilton after we booked and we were so glad she did. I think having her there to ask questions at anytime was so important to us. The 2nd most important thing was that we had freedom to plan every single part of the day and weren’t tied down by set rules or suppliers.
Tell us about your big day! What was your favourite part?
It’s hard to choose just one part of the day as we had an amazing wedding at Bachilton Barn. We ended up having a lot of guests and the spaces worked so well. We had the band in the Barn where people were dancing all night and then the bar was through in Bachilton which gave people who maybe needed a bit of quiet to a place to sit and chat with people. Bachiltons rural setting meant that we got to have outdoor wedding photos in the countryside which is what we had always wanted. We chose to do a sparkler group photo with everyone outside in November which was so much fun and had a chippy van at night for our evening guests. We loved how it was one big party right from start to finish. We really didn’t want a formal/ traditional wedding and it worked out so perfectly.
What tips and tricks would you give to other couples planning their wedding?
Make lots of lists. It feels so much more manageable when you put everything down on paper. Also if you’re going to be making decor etc. yourself then start well in advance. I started making my decor 1 year before and it meant that I was so much less stressed about it in the run up to the wedding as everything was ready.
How are you enjoying married life?
Before being married we had been a couple for 11 years so not much has changed in married life but it feels great to be married and we are looking forward to our honeymoon.
