Wedding Planning Tips

1. Start Planning Early

Like with most things, the sooner you begin to prepare, the smoother things are on the day! We always recommend to our couples that they start planning early. The longer time you give to suppliers, the more likely they are to have your available date, and bring your big ideas to life! We know couples don’t want to be hanging about waiting forever, so we would recommend planning at least 12-18 months in advance.

2. Your Day, Your Way

The team here at Bachilton absolutely swear by this phrase: Your Day, Your Way. Remember who all this planning is for – YOU! Try not to worry about what traditions are expected of you, and focus on crafting a day that you and your partner will remember for a lifetime. The best weddings have personal touches and centre around the couple – not what their guests want!

3. Nail Your Wedding Team

Your wedding team should be your biggest support system throughout the planning process. Whether it’s friends, family, planners or suppliers, make sure you choose people who want you to have the perfect day! Make sure everyone in your team knows their role and what you expect of them in the run up and on your wedding day, it helps takes the pressure off of you and means no one is surprised when they are asked to help out.

4. Speadsheets and Planners

Trust us – wedding planning can get tricky sometimes! Between venues, caterers, flowers and guests, it’s a big event to prepare for! In the run up to a wedding, planners are great for keeping track of appointments like fittings and tastings. Spreadsheets are fantastic for keeping all sorts of lists like guests, suppliers and their role, as well as keeping an eye on your wedding budget.
Some great wedding apps you can use for planning include Hitched and Bridebook (you can find us on both!), alternatively apps like Notion or Trello make planning much smoother.
