2022 Wedding Trends

1. Small Weddings

Small weddings made themselves a necessity throughout 2020 and 2021 with the Covid pandemic, but it looks like they’re here to stay! There’s a growing trend towards smaller weddings, elopements and sequel weddings. It seems like couples want to spend their day with their nearest and dearest these days and save their pennies for a big honeymoon.

2. Sustainable Weddings

There has been a growing lean towards all things sustainable (and rightly so!), so it’s no surprise that couples are now moving their weddings in a sustainable direction too. Climate Care released a shocking piece of data that a single wedding produces around 15 tonnes of carbon emissions – more than one person produces in a YEAR! There are plenty of easy things you can do to offset your weddings greenhouses gases, including having a summer wedding to reduce the need for heating and lighting, choosing suppliers who are local to your venue to reduce travel and choosing a pre-loved wedding dress – another growing trend!

3. Colour

2016 to 2020 saw the rise of the minimalist and neutral trend, but it looks like that it set to change in a big way. Bold florals, clashing colours, colourful dresses, candles and table displays seem to be in the works for 2022. In other words: MAXIMALISM! The trending colours are set to be warm pinks, forest greens, lavendar purples and bright citrusy oranges.

4. Mixing & Matching

Maybe following along with the growing maximalism trend comes mixing and matching. This applies to all things, crockery, glasses, furniture and bridesmaid dresses! This trend encourages bridesmaids to wear something they already own and love and can encourage couples to decorate their wedding with furniture they own too. It brings a lovely personal touch to the day, along with minimising the amount of things to buy for your big day (always good for the budget…)

5. Mini Dresses

Say goodbye to full length and HELLO to mini! There’s been a growing change in the bridal style world for the last few years as brides move away from traditonal dresses and opt to choose more ‘them’ styles. Suits, colours and sequins have all had their moment and now it’s the turn of the mini! Short dresses have been around since the 60s, but with more modern couples and more city elopements it seems the mini dress has made it’s 2020s stylish comeback.
