Greig & Kerry | Real Weddings at Bachilton Barn

Greig & Kerry got married on a stunning Saturday in April 2022 and put their personal stamp on our venue! From Kerry's cowboy boots to maybe the best party ever in the evening, this was definitely a wedding to remember. Read what Greig & Kerry had to say about planning their wedding at Bachiton Barn:

How did you two meet?
We met through a mutual friend who was best man on the day at University halls. Although just friends at first, things eventually (after me annoying Kerry for a few months) became romantic!

What was it that made you choose Bachilton Barn?

Bachilton was genuinely the first and only venue we visited. The minute we drove down the farm road to the venue, the butterflies came on immediately. The combination of fantastic accommodation, a beautiful restored barn and stunning views meant it was a no brainer. Add in the fantastic team who were so supportive from day one, through Covid and on the big day itself – it was clear we made a fantastic choice.

What was important to you when planning your wedding?

When planning our day, the priority was to have a space to make our own but to have the support to make it a reality. We wanted a wedding that was relaxed, fun and mostly a reflection of who we are as a couple. For us, family and friends are everything, so having the opportunity to have nearly half of our wedding party stay in the onsite accommodation was fantastic. The setting is the perfect backdrop for any couple who appreciate the beauty of Scottish scenery and want a private and personal wedding day.

Tell us about your big day! What was your favourite part?
We will have to break this down into three parts.

1. The most perfect and intimate ceremony shared with everyone we love.

2. Seeing what was in Kerry’s imagination. As much as she described it, I could not fully envisage what she had planned. It scared me at time, but the result was truly special.

3. The dancing! What a party we had in the evening in the back barn. Having everyone together again, having not seen so many for a few years due to the pandemic.

What tips and tricks would you give to other couples planning their wedding?
All credit for planning this amazing day is with Greig, he organised all our suppliers, keeping in regular contact and making sure that everything run smoothly. Tips and tricks are to both really love the venue and communicate with them exactly what your ideas are. Find local venders who can help source local produce like the food, flowers and decor. Bachilton have great contacts and they can help you along the way. Try to enjoy the experience, and take a moment just for you as a couple. The day goes so quickly, so try not to spend time doing things that aren’t important to you. Have the people you love close by to help, without ours we wouldn’t have been able to do it.

How are you enjoying married life?
Having been together over a decade before we eventually “tied the knot” we almost thought nothing would really change. We had lived together for 8 years, had a dog and bought a house. We were essentially married without the legal paperwork. How wrong we were. It is really hard to explain – but a feeling of being content has washed over us. Although we have always had our plans for after we get married, you realise and get excited about the next step – whatever that may be. It sounds almost generic and cringey but we really could not be any happier. The memories of our wedding will stay with us forever, our vows, the people and the setting.

And finally… Shout out your fabulous suppliers:
Lov Events (Caterer), Joanne Clenaghan Photography, All wrapped up (Tables, chairs, decor), Sugarbush Flower Studio, Bridges function band, Candice Dillen (Celebrant), Love Spell Design (Dress) And Scottish Piping Services.
