How did you two meet?

We met in first year of high school and ended up in the same friendship group. We were only friends for a few years before starting to like each other but were serious about each other by 15!

What was it that made you choose Bachilton Barn?

Although Bachilton Barn was the first venue we saw together, we stayed open-minded and kept looking for a bit longer as we wanted to make sure it was definitely “the one”. After seeing around 10, we still couldn’t get Bachilton Barn out of our heads! It was so light, bright and perfect for the style of wedding we wanted.

What was important to you when planning your wedding?

When planning our wedding it was actually most important for us that we enjoyed the process of planning. We knew the day would be over so fast that we wanted to draw out the enjoyment and create so many memories in the planning phase as we possibly could. We went to wedding fayres, open days, we went to see our band play at a gig, celebrated on the 1 year to go date and the 100 day countdown. We didn’t want it to become a stress when it’s all supposed to be a celebration.

Tell us about your big day! What was your favourite part?

Our wedding was absolutely perfect for us. It was so personal, intimate, bubbly and relaxed. I loved it from the minute I woke up to the minute it was over! Being in the cottages all morning with our Bridal party and Grooms party was really special. The ceremony itself was better than I could have ever dreamed of, it couldn’t have been more “us”. The setup was perfect, I was so chuffed with all the decor and how it all came together on the day. The evening was such a good celebration with everyone we love. We just wish we could do it all over again!

What tips and tricks would you give to other couples planning their wedding?

  • Create an email account both of you have access to that’s purely for wedding planning as it helps to keep track of everything

  • The bridebook app is a saviour especially in the early stages

  • Don’t worry about being rude and just make a gift list- people like direction on what to get you, it saves feeling awkward when people personally ask you and it also saves getting things you might not like.

  • Let any drama bounce off you, and just enjoy every minute!

How are you enjoying married life?

Married life is great. After 12 years together, it’s not all that different day to day but we do think there is a higher level of respect for each other and a feeling of being even more of a team which is really nice and something I never thought would/could happen. We also got a puppy with some of the wedding money so it’s been chaos but amazing. We feel closer to friends and family and really grateful for everyone around us.

And finally… Shout out your fabulous suppliers:

  • Fifty Six Events helped us style the venue to perfection!

  • Bloom created the most beautiful flower arrangement for our arch that I’m absolutely obsessed with. The other flowers were beautiful too!

  • Klaudii Beauty did our makeup and made us all feel beautiful. We paid for after-ceremony touchups and it lasted the full day/evening.

  • Dream Hair (Arbroath and Forfar) did an amazing job of everyone’s hair.

  • The canapés, meal and Pizza van were all by Luti’s Artisan food, and everyone really enjoyed all of it.

  • The band was The rockettes who we really recommend. We got loads of compliments about them and their ceilidh set was really good too.

  • We used Big Day Productions for the photography and videography and love everything we got back.

  • My stunning dress was from Anna Rose bridals and altered by LaMode design studio.
